The GPS receiver on GTCs device receives information on location, speed, direction and time from the GPS satellite constellation.
GTCs low power asset tracker or monitoring device is pre-programmed to send messages containing GPS location and status reports at event-driven or pre-determined intervals. Messages contain user or application specific information and are encrypted before being transmitted via satellite.
Messages are transmitted over the Globalstar satellite system, a constellation of 48 low-earth orbiting satellites, and relayed to a satellite ground station.
Messages are received by the satellite ground station, processed and decoded by an appliqué before being sent through the internet to GTC's back office server. GTC forwards the message to a user designated location, either by internet or email.
The end user receives the message from the asset within approximately two minutes of it being sent. The message contains the time, position and status of the asset and can be viewed through a PC, mobile device or GTC's website.
