How it Works - Two-Way Data

Computer GTC’s two-way devices receive location and status messages with the same satellite technology used by our one-way devices. If the incoming status message indicates a problem with your equipment, machinery or other assets, our device will send an event driven control message which can be used, for example, to reduce pressure on a valve or shut down overheating machinery. This control message can be sent from your computer or mobile device.

Antenna Using the monitoring and control station software provided by GTC, you can determine, either automatically or manually, what type of control message should be returned to your asset. This message is then encrypted before being sent to the satellite network through GTC’s server and the internet.

Satellite GTC’s two-way devices combine separate satellite networks for uplink and downlink messages to ensure quick and reliable delivery of data. The downlink control message is sent through the satellite network to the receiver placed on your remote asset.

Asset The radio receiver on your asset processes the incoming message according to the instructions sent by the control station. Messages can contain data with programming information to control machinery, pipelines, pumps, valves, etc. The control message can be received by the asset within one minute of it being sent from the control station and this makes GTC’s two-way device essential for control of unmanned remote assets during emergency situations.
